You need JavaScript enabled to view it BUILDING DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT Our mission and commitment is to effectively promote and provide professional plan review, permitting and inspection of building construction to ensure a safe built environment for all those who live and work in the City of Sebastian. The Building Department ensures compliance with all state and local codes to protect the health, safety and welfare of our residents. Our professional and courteous staff is available to assist you with your construction project. In addition, the Building Department processes the required business tax receipts for businesses located within Sebastian city limits. Important Notice: Due to City mandated furlough days, the Building Department and the rest of City Hall will be CLOSED on the following days: • Friday, October 23rd • Friday, November 20th • Thursday, December 31st • Friday, January 29th • Friday, February 26th • Friday, March 26th • Friday, April 30th • Friday, May 28th • Friday, June 25th • Friday, July 30th • Friday, August 27th • Friday, September 24th There will be no inspections performed on these days. You must schedule the day before to receive an inspection for the next business day after the furlough day. We apologize for any inconveniences

The Florida Building Code 2007 edition with the 2009 code supplements is in effect. The City of Sebastian has adopted a design wind speed of 140 mph in accordance with figure 1609 of the Florida Building Code. Exposure B or C will be applicable in accordance with the provisions set forth in section 1609.4 of the FBC. If you have any questions to the above wind speed requirements please contact the Building Department for clarification. |
