City Manager Home

Welcome to the official city website for Sebastian, your Treasure Coast Florida community. Perhaps best known as “Home of Pelican Island”, which was America's first wildlife sanctuary, Sebastian is a rapidly growing community that offers a quality of life second to none.

Home to nearly 20,000 residents as well as numerous businesses, Sebastian is located along the scenic coast of the Indian River Lagoon.

One of Sebastian’s greatest assets are the men, women, and children that work, play, and serve the community through businesses, civic associations, and health and educational institutions. We enjoy a reputation as a community full of friendly people working to retain Sebastian’s small town charm and character. The Office of the City Manager is pleased to assist in this very important effort by managing and directing the policies as adopted by your Mayor, Vice Mayor, and City Council; overseeing a budget of nearly $20 million; and directing a workforce of 175 employees. Our commitment to excellence is exhibited through the recent adoption of the City's first official Mission Statement, including numerous strategies that build on excellent work already initiated, as well as recognition by the White House Millennium Council as a Millennium Community.

I would like to encourage you to review the FY 2008/2009 Budget. After reading it, I believe you will agree that the City of Sebastian is a progressive thinking municipality with an impeccable record of being conservative with tax dollars while creating quality programs, projects, and services to meet the high expectations set by both residents and City Council.

Executive Assistant Jean Tarbell and I encourage Sebastian residents to get involved and contribute towards continuing efforts in making your community the most desirable city in the State of Florida in which residents live, businesses flourish, and visitors enjoy.
