Notice of Intent to Impose and Provide for Collection of Non-Ad Valorem Assessments

NOTICE OF INTENT TO IMPOSE AND PROVIDE FOR COLLECTION OF NONAD VALOREM ASSESSMENTS FOR WASTE COLLECTION SERVICES

Notice is hereby given by the City Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida (the “City”) of its intent to use the uniform method of collecting a non-ad valorem special assessment to be levied within the incorporated area of the City as authorized by Florida Statute §197.3632, for the cost of providing solid waste collection and disposal services, commencing for the Fiscal Year beginning on October 1, 2024 and continuing until discontinued by the City. 

The City will consider the adoption of a Resolution electing to use the uniform method of collecting such assessments authorized by Florida Statute §197.3632, at a public hearing to be held at 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the item can be heard, on December 13, 2023, in the City Council Chambers located at 1225 Main Street, Sebastian, FL 32958. 

Such Resolution will state the need for the levy and will contain a legal description of the boundaries of the real property subject to the levy. Copies of the proposed form of the Resolution, which contains the legal description of real property subject to the levy, are on file at the office of the City Clerk, located at City Hall at 1225 Main Street, Sebastian, FL 32958. 

Any person wishing to appeal any decision of the City Council with respect to any matter considered will need to make the necessary arrangements for ensuring that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made. In accordance with the American with Disabilities Act, persons needing a special accommodation or an interpreter to participate in this proceeding should contact the ADA Coordinator at (772) 388-8227 at least 48 hours prior to the date of the hearing.
